Training Classes

Service Agreement with The Dog Club
For the avoidance of doubt, ‘handler(s)’ refers to the client(s) or person who attends the class with a dog.
1. While risk assessments are conducted prior to and during training sessions, dog handlers are responsible for their own and their dog’s safety.

2. Dog handlers must make sure that their dog maintains a distance of two metres from other dogs and other handlers in group classes unless instructed otherwise by the trainer.

3. Dog handlers are responsible for covering any costs incurred by themselves or their dog including damage to property or injury of another dog, dog handler or trainer.

4. If The Dog Club is unable to hold a training session for any reason including trainer illness, dog handlers will be offered an alternative date for that session.

5. If for any reason the training session is unable to go ahead in the chosen location and no suitable alternative locations are available, the session will be held as a Zoom video call.

6. Group classes and one to one sessions are payable in advance. Payments for group classes are not refundable from 10 days before the first class begins.

7. The Dog Club is unable to offer refunds should a handler be unable to attend one or more sessions of their group course.

8. A minimum of 48 hours’ notice should be given by a client if they are unable to attend a one to one session and every effort will be made to rebook the session for a more suitable time. If the notice period is 48 hours’ or less, no refunds will be given.

9. Dog handlers must make The Dog Club aware of any medical or behavioural issues that occur with their dog during the term of the course.

10. Dog handlers should make The Dog Club aware of any allergies or health conditions that their dog has.

11. As part of our Code of Ethics, The Dog Club agrees to work within our professional limits. As part of our service, we will refer owners with needs beyond those limits to a suitable professional. In these circumstances, a refund will be given for any future sessions that have been prepaid for with The Dog Club. When a referral has been made, The Dog Club presumes that the client will follow this recommendation unless informed otherwise by the client.

12. Prior to booking, clients must inform The Dog Club if their dog is required to wear a muzzle for insurance purposes. Should a be dog wearing a muzzle to training session when the client has not had prior consent from The Dog Club, the dog will not be able to continue with their session.

13. Clients are obliged to state their dog’s full breed on the Booking Form, to the best of their knowledge. For insurance reasons, The Dog Club must know each dog’s breed before a class starts and incorrect information may result in a dog being unable to continue with a class.

14.The Dog Club must be informed by the client if their dog is a breed or partial breed that is listed in the UK under the Dangerous Dogs Act. If The Dog Club suspects that a breed or partial breed listed under the Dangerous Dogs Act is attending class, the dog and handler will be asked to leave while the relevant information is gathered.

15. Booking Forms must be filled in and signed by the dog’s owner (or one of the dog’s owners) before training sessions begin.

16. Dogs attending training sessions with The Dog Club must be insured and microchipped.

17. The Dog Club presumes that dogs attending their training sessions are fully vaccinated and that their owner is able to provide evidence of this if asked. If their dog is not fully vaccinated, clients or handlers should make The Dog Club aware of this before booking a session.

18.If a client and their dog are unable to attend class because they have breached any of the above terms, no refunds will be given.
A full copy of The Dog Club’s business insurance policy is available on request. That’s the small print done, now simply enjoy the course!
The Dog Club

Walking Club

For the avoidance of doubt, ‘handler(s)’ refers to the person(s) who attends the activity with a dog. This should be the dog’s owner or someone who is taking full responsibility of the dog during the activity in the absence of the owner. 

  1. If Walking Club is unable to go ahead for any reason including extreme weather, The Dog Club will notify clients by text message. We hope to provide a minimum of 48 hours’ notice but this isn’t possible in every circumstance so please do check your messages. Should this happen, you will be offered an alternative date or refund. Please note that any refunds will not include the 25% charitable donation as this will still be given to the chosen charity. 
  2. If a dog and their handler is unable to attend Walking Club, a refunds will only be given when 48 hours’ notice or more is provided. Please note that any refunds will not include the 25% charitable donation as this will still be given to the chosen charity.
  3. Dog’s must be kept on a lead during Walking Club in the interests of safety. 
  4. Please remember that dogs and their owners may prefer more space than others. If you are allowing your dog to approach another dog or person, please ask first. The Dog Club recommends that dogs remain a distance of 2 metres apart for everyone’s safety and comfort. Owners who chose not to adhere to this advice do so at their and their dog’s own risk. 
  5. Please be courteous when parking in Whittington as it is a small village with limited parking spaces. 
  6. Please consider the safety of road users and other pedestrians whilst walking.
  7. Handlers are fully responsible for their dogs while attending Walking Club. 
  8. Handlers are liable for any costs incurred during the activity by their dog, themselves or anyone attending with them. 
  9. Children are very welcome but they must attend with a responsible adult and remain with them. 
  10. The drink included in the cost of Walking Club should be a soft drink or hot drink up to the value of £3 per fee. 
  11. Any training advice given by The Dog Club during the activity is based on the information provided. The Dog Club is unable to offer specific individual advice unless a One to One Initial Consultation is booked and conducted.  
  12. Individuals are responsible for themselves during the activity even if they become separated from the group. Maps will be provided of the walking route and Lisa at The Dog Club’s phone number is 07776 119762, should you become separated from the group. 
  13. Please be mindful that a group of handlers with their dogs could be intimidating to other dogs and people. Please allow members of the public and their dogs plenty of space to pass the group. 
  14. Each route is designed to be a gentle walk but may involve varying terrains and gradients. If you have any concerns about the suitability of the walk for yourself or anyone in your party, please contact The Dog Club prior to booking. A map will be provided on the day but please do ask beforehand if would like any further information about the route.
